Prohibited Items

For safety, environmental rules, and local landfill policies, Millard Junk Removal cannot accept the following materials. This list is representative—not exhaustive. If you’re unsure, please ask before booking.

Hazardous & Chemical Materials

  • Auto fluids (gasoline, diesel, oil, grease, transmission fluid, antifreeze)

  • Paints, stains, inks, thinners, solvents, turpentine

  • Household chemicals (cleaners, pool chemicals, lawn & garden chemicals)

  • Pesticides and herbicides

  • Corrosive, flammable, or explosive materials (including propane/pressurized cylinders)

  • Petroleum-contaminated soil or waste

  • Sludges, tank sediments, or waste with chemical odors

  • Materials marked with hazard placards, warnings, or danger labels

  • PCB-containing items (e.g., certain ballasts, dielectric fluids)

  • Radioactive materials

Batteries, Bulbs, and Mercury Devices

  • Auto/lead-acid batteries

  • Lithium-ion batteries (tool packs, e-bikes/scooters, electronics)

  • Fluorescent tubes, CFLs, and other mercury-containing devices/thermostats

Medical/Bio Waste

  • Infectious or biomedical waste

  • Dead animals

  • Fecal material

  • Animal bedding

Asbestos & Industrial By-Products

  • Asbestos-containing materials (flooring, insulation, siding, etc.)

  • Industrial/process dusts, airborne wastes, powders

Treated Wood & Specialty Items

  • Treated railroad ties and power poles

Containers & Unknowns

  • Unlabeled or unknown chemicals

  • Household Hazardous Waste: UnderTheSink (Douglas/Sarpy residents). Visit UnderTheSink.org for hours and accepted items.

  • Railroad ties & Treated Wood: The Nebraska Department of Environmental Quality has published this guide for disposal. For the guide, click here. Contact the NDEQ for additional information at (877) 253-2603.

  • For anything else, contact your local landfill or waste authority for instructions.
